Police Pay $650K — Then Do the Exact Same Thing [36:52]
On July 16, 2025, Nathan May, a 20-year-old Colorado State University student with no criminal record, was pulled over in Fort Collins, Colorado, for driving without his headlights on. He volunteered for roadside sobriety tests before being asked and blew 0.000 on a breath test. Officers Trevor Cacciatore and Vince Hooley arrested him for driving under the influence of drugs, searched his car, and found nothing. His blood was sent to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, which reported no alcohol and no drugs detected. The department's response was to request additional testing. In October 2025, the district attorney dismissed the case, stating there was "no reasonable likelihood of success at trial." Can police officers really lie to you to get consent for a search, and how should you handle that situation?
Can police officers really lie to you to get consent for a search, and how should you handle that situation?
Answer (1 of 6): Police lie all the time however if they do not have a warrant or given them a justifying cause for them to search without a warrant, they can't search your property. It's always good to keep your fifth amendment right and keep your mouth closed. All you need to do is tell the of...
